Amazon reportedly submits last-minute bid to acquire TikTok

Amazon has reportedly placed a last minute bid to acquire Tik Tok’s business as a whole, according to a new report from The New York Times. In the case they fail to shed their Chinese ownership by April 5, they will be banned in the United States. Unfortunately for Amazon, the insiders with knowledge on the deal do not seem to consider the bid valid.
President Donald Trump discussed having a meeting with appointed officials on the app’s subsequent decision for Wednesday. According to Trump’s statements made earlier this week regarding the deal with Tik Tok’s parent company, they are expecting to finalize the sale before the imposed deadline.
On Tuesday, Financial Times reported an accompanying rumor where Andreessen Horowitz was allegedly attempting to buy a stake of Tik Tok alongside an Oracle led consortium that has and includes numerous other American clientele eager to acquire the app.
Surrounding last week, Reuters covered the story that private equity firm Blackstone is purportedly planning to sign on with the current non-Chinese shareholders of ByteDance spearheaded by Susquehanna International Group and General Atlantic that are looking to fund a buyout bid for Tik Tok’s operations in the United States.
